We are planning for an in-person conference.
The organizers of the IMPACT Sustainable Travel and Tourism Conference are planning for an in-person conference in January 2024 as this is the richest form for interaction and engagement. Should health orders require a change in format, organizers will work with all registered delegates on partial or full refunds as appropriate. Decisions will be made in a timely fashion and will be communicated to all delegates efficiently.
If we need to postpone the IMPACT Sustainability Travel & Tourism event, your tickets will be viable for the date of the postponement. If unable to attend during the new dates proposed, you may transfer your registration to a colleague or be refunded if you provide notice within 72 hours of the postponement being announced. For cancellations received on or before midnight (PT) on Thursday, Novbember 30, 2023, the registration payment will be 50% refunded. For cancellations received after Thursday, November 30, 2023, the entire payment shall be forfeited. Full registration substitutions are allowed until Wednesday, January 17, 2024, and all notices of substitution/cancellation must be made in writing to [email protected]. No refunds will be issued for no-shows. Conference organizers reserve the right to change the format, content, and timing of the event program, subject to health and safety regulations.
At this time we are not planning to host any hybrid or virtual sessions or recording the session. We will be providing a report on key findings following the conference.
The program manager will discuss with you the options you have to attend IMPACT, as a speaker or presenter.
IMPACT is being held at the Victoria Conference Centre, where staff, contractors and suppliers have all been trained on creating the safest possible experience for delegates, as per WorkSafe BC’s Safety Plan. As well, ConnectSeven is handling all logistics and were part of the BC Meetings and Events Working Group, responsible for creating the BC Safe Restart Guidelines for meetings and events.
We welcome delegates follow their own comfort level regarding masking.

IMPACT was co-founded in 2018 by Destination Greater Victoria, Synergy Enterprises, Starboard Enterprises and TartanBond (previously Beattie Tartan).
Currently we operate IMPACT at a breakeven basis with the co-founders investing time and funds for operations.
Please connect with our program manager at [email protected] -- as we are always interested in new, inspiring speakers. We also encourage everyone who is attending to have a voice -- and have set up our sessions to include and encourage delegate participation.
Yes there are sponsorship opportunities available, and we will have Starr McMichael be in touch with you directly.
IMPACT was created as an annual conference for Destination Greater Victoria as the host destination. Due to the amount of investment the team at Destination Greater Victoria puts into hosting the conference every year, we do not anticipate changing the venue, but have in the past assisted Destinations in hosting workshops and presentations on the findings and case studies presented every year.
The Day of IMPACT was created to provide delegates with a hands-on opportunity to experience Southern Vancouver Island and Victoria -- and the destination’s own journey towards greater sustainability and resiliency in tourism. Due to the amount of coordination that goes into creating a day that provides real value for delegates including transportation and food costs, we provide this as a separate, add-on event. We also understand that not everyone can include an extra day so by separating it out of the conference program we help keep registration fees more affordable.
The hotels highlighted for IMPACT have each offered special rates for this conference and are big supporters. While we encourage delegates to choose one of our host hotels, we are a destination blessed with many accommodation choices and you are welcome to explore all options.
