Does it matter what you think about while giving reiki?

I just watched this video and I agree with mostly everything that the video recommends!

The one part that I questioned was; “If other thoughts come up, simply brush them aside, bringing attention back to the Reiki energy.”

During my Level 1 class, my teacher said not to worry if you start to daydream or if your mind wanders during a session. He said that sometimes these can be the best sessions! My other teacher has said that it’s fine if your mind wanders, as long as you’re not thinking “I wish I wasn’t giving reiki right now” or something along those lines.

I find that when I am giving a reiki session, I will usually have thoughts about my own personal life. Sometimes my general outlook on life and my current circumstances will improve while I am giving. But I also think that I am keeping a certain level of awareness towards the fact that I am giving reiki, and intending reiki to flow. When I start thinking too much I do try to let go of those types of controlling or worrisome thoughts and refocus on the present moment. I usually find that the distance reiki symbol (HSZSN) helps me with this.

The other important thing to note is that thoughts and intentions do affect physical matter. This has been proven by the research of Dr. Masaru Emoto. He passed away in 2014 but his research and inspiration live on. More information can be found on his website: MasaruEmoto.net

With all of this proof, it seems that thoughts and visualizations may be able to affect a client during a reiki session if they are directed strongly enough. So I do agree with the video that focusing on reiki does help increase the effectiveness of a session. But as I continue to practice being able to clear my mind and meditate and visualize, I know that there’s no need to worry about thoughts popping up, or letting my mind wander during a session.

1. Learn Reiki (Holy Fire)

Reiki is an excellent way to gain a greater understanding of your own personal “energy”, aura or electromagnetic field and how you interact with the world. For me, it has been an empowering journey. I’m continuing my training by taking a Holy Fire II Reiki ART/Master Class this February!

2. Float

Like anything, you receive what you are open to receiving. Floating can be a transcendent experience if you are in the right state of mind and are open to letting go. My favorite place to float in Philly is Halcyon Floats. I’ve also been thinking about what it would be like to receive energy work from a distance, while floating. If anyone would like to try it out, let me know! Or if you happen to read this and then go book a float, say you heard it here first and mention my name 😉

3. Ayahuasca Ceremony

global_432623975My first time drinking Ayahuasca was a life changing experience. It’s hard to truly put the experience into words, but what I can say is that I believe that it has powerful healing potential. Similar to what I mentioned in the post above, “you get what you give.” Your Ayahuasca experience may depend on the amount of work you put in to prepare before the ceremony, as well as integrate afterwards. It was challenging, difficult, scary, beautiful, life-affirming, death-affirming, humbling and enlightening. This really deserves a whole separate post which I will begin writing soon.

4. Ajna Light

This highly effective tool uses very powerful photonic light stimulation to induce the same rhythmic brainwaves states seen in advanced meditation practitioners.

I tried the Ajna Light when I was at Symbiosis Gathering 2015. During this experience I had very vivid and powerful visions… but my friend using the same machine said she didn’t see anything. This spurred me to want to use my reiki skills to guide people into deeper states with the assistance of this machine. In 2017, I would love to find another Ajna Light and receive a session, and eventually save up to purchase my own light.

5. Juice Cleanse

I have only begun to realize the benefits juice fasting within the past year. The basic idea is that by consuming a diet of healthy liquids, you give your stomach a break from breaking down fibers. With less time spent breaking down fibers, it has more time to cleanse and detoxify. I was already on a plant-based diet, and the fact that he made it so open-ended encouraged me to participate. I’m pretty sure I ended up eating maybe a banana and a vegetable in addition to my juice. But that is a huge start to becoming more conscious of what I put into my temple! Starting next Monday, I will be participating in a 7 Day Fruit Fast Challenge, consuming only raw fruit.

6. Create or Purchase Orgone

11150966_660163070756631_6688263177363512902_nI remember the first time I encountered Orgone at the Mind Body Spirit Expo in 2015, from the vendors Orgone Paradise. I held my hand over the objects and could feel the difference in frequency. I bought that first piece and have been in love ever since! I even made a few of my own pieces of orgone last summer, but I wasn’t careful and got some resin in my eye. I was eager to try again so I made a pyramid 2 weeks ago.

 

 

7. Ormus

“Ormus, often referred to as ORME (Orbitally Rearranged Monatomic Element or M-state element), is made from water and other substances and is also known as monoatomic gold.”- Be Well Buzz “What is Ormus?”

Basically it’s a magical elixir to help you become a health superstar and alchemist. Ormus is still a bit mysterious to me, but it was one of those things that my intuition or my gut feeling drew me towards.

8. Travel to Oregon Eclipse

Kevin KoChen, one of the founders of Symbiosis Gathering and Oregon Eclipse believes that Music Festivals Can Help Bridge the Donald Trump Era’s Divides. But Oregon Eclipse isn’t your standard music festival. This special gathering is centered around the fact that there will be a total solar eclipse visible from Oregon in August. The event is also a collaboration between many festival organizers and producers from around the world! One of the prominent genres at the festival; Psychedelic Trance, is one of my favorite types of music to listen to these days.

9. White Tantric Yoga

A one day meditation workshop, including plenty of eye-gazing. One of my other goals is to study and explore Tantra in general. I have had one significant tantric love making experience in the past. And a few others as well. But this workshop is not about sex.

10. Practice Breathwork

Breathwork is conscious control of the breath in order to influence mental, emotional and physical states. You may be familiar with Ujjayi or Kapalabhati, Breath of Fire from yoga class- these were my first introductions to breathwork. But what I am talking about here is more of a practice in itself, that can also be done under the guidance of a facilitator.

I previously wrote about my first Breathwork experience with Michelle of Pushing Beauty. I had an emotional, transformative experience which you can read about in this previous post.  But I’m also curious to experience different types of Breathwork, including the well known Holotropic Breathworktaught by Stanislav Grof. He will be teaching a Holotropic Breathworkworkshop at the upcoming Psychedelic Science Conference in Oakland this April- which I am super excited about!
